CB2 - the baby robot Oh dear.. all it took was several seconds of seeing a clip of this on the news the other day to arouse my interest.  The aseptic rubbery exterior of this “robobaby” hides beneath it a serious amount of fantastic programming, (and no doubt an equally fantastic number of engines) to produce a magic kind of organic movement.  The sort of mimicry that inspires you initially with its accurate complexity.. then resonates into sickoning “OMG thats kind of evil” feeling .. You can see the motivation behind the choice to produce a baby robot with this sophistication.  An adult sized job would blow peoples minds.. and not necessarily in a good way :) Finally a baby that you can truly switch off at night time.  CB2 has the intelligence of a baby(age:1-2) and the senses of sight, hearing, touch. The scientists group plan to develop the robot to an intellectual level of 3 years old child in four yearsThis project has made progress since 2007. CB2 can now walk with a human aide. It can walk through a room without any trouble. It works by memorising things and duplicating them (with some help from its programmers), but it has essentially learned on its own. Project members are from several professional fields, pooling their know how into this single project (CB2). They hope to have it speaking kid sentences in two years. click img to view vid
